Introduction

There is a vast market for enterprise security and a considerable variety of products available, often in the form of endpoint, network, and cloud security. Additionally, there is a wide range of products available to help organizations accomplish critical cybersecurity needs, like protecting perimeters, managing users and accounts, implementing threat intelligence, and even performing dark web monitoring for brand exposure and risk. Oddly enough, although enterprises have suites of products available to them, personal users and employees don’t seem to have the same types of protections.

In this SANS First Look, we spent some time with Agency, which is working to solve this exact issue. Agency is pioneering “Personalized Managed Cybersecurity,” featuring the idea that individual security should be as tailored and capable as vast enterprise security programs. This is a direct recognition that users often present the highest-risk attack surface for enterprises and should have advanced protections on their endpoint devices and personal brands—not just their corporate systems and professional accounts.

Agency has achieved this by partnering with a wide array of technological providers that allow it to offer digital device and account threat protection and monitoring, coupled with insurance policies and reputational risk assessments. Agency has provided a unique look into a better way to secure individual devices and employee assets. Some of our key takeaways included:

  • A simple, intuitive platform made it easy to view the protection status of enrolled devices and enroll new ones.
  • User device and identity security is more than MDM with Agency; it’s also brand monitoring, digital ID protection, and personal information (PI) removal.
  • Agency helps meet the compliance requirements of various standards (e.g., HIPAA, FISMA, PCI, FERPA, etc.) on end-user devices.
  • Device incident response and insurance coverage provide assurance that customers can have assistance in time(s) of need.
