What Is Google Pay?
Google Pay is a mobile payment app that allows users to send money and complete transactions in-person and online. Users can add a payment method to their Google Account to access these features.
Is Google Pay Safe?
Google Pay has many features and policies to make it safe to use. The payment app never sells or shares personal information with third parties. Merchants can’t access your payment information because Google Pay gives a token called a “virtual account number” instead. The token allows you to pay for things without ever compromising your card details.
Google Pay stores your payment information on their servers and claims to strongly encrypt the data. The digital mobile wallet uses authentication methods like FaceID and Touch ID to authorize Google Pay payments, adding another layer of security. It is a lot more secure than a physical wallet. The Google Pay App does not share your transaction history with the rest of Google to target you with ads.
Google Pay also offers:
- Notifications alerting you of suspicious payments
- Deletion of the app remotely
- Opting out of data sharing
Concern regarding personal cybersecurity is warranted, especially when dealing with financials. That’s why it’s a good idea to purchase personal cybersecurity. Agency, a cybersecurity company, provides:
- Complete ID theft coverage
- Loss of funds coverage and credit monitoring
- Giving consumers peace of mind
Should I Get Google Pay?
Google Pay is a secure and unique digital wallet app with convenient features. Regarding everyday transactions, Google Pay is a more secure payment method than carrying around a physical card. The app also allows users to store and access additional cards beyond payment, such as membership cards, gift cards, and transit cards.
The app also has three tabs to enrich your life. “Pay” allows you to send payments to friends and family like any other digital payment app. However, the other two tabs go beyond this. The “Explore” tab offers deals and discounts, and the “Insights” tab connects your bank account to see an overview of your finances (if you consent).
When you click the blue icons on top of the “Insights page, you receive overviews of useful information, like upcoming bills. Through the “Insights” tab, you can even give Google Pay permission to go through your Gmail inbox and Google photos to compile receipts. These receipts then become merged into your finance tracking.
Overall, you should get Google Pay if:
- You want a secure, contactless, and convenient payment method.
- You are curious about your financial spending habits.
- You want cashback deals and discounts.
- You have Agency Nextgen Antivirus plus an active security response to protect yourself from cybersecurity threats online and care about maintaining a high level of personal security to ward off hackers.
