A Step-By-Step Guide to Setting Up 2FA on Your Amazon Account

Setting up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on your Amazon account is the best way to prevent unauthorized access to your account. Online retail breaches are all too common and passwords alone aren’t able to keep you protected from savvy hackers. With 2FA in place, you’ll have an extra layer of security so that you have greater control over access to your virtual shopping accounts. You can find more information about what 2FA is and how it works here .

Follow these 9 easy steps:

Step 1: Go to https://www.amazon.com on your desktop and click on “Account & Lists”

Step 2: Click on “Login & Security”

Step 3: Click “Edit” on the “Two-Step Verification (2SV) Settings” tab

Step 4: Click on “Add new phone or Authentication App”

Step 5: Download the Google Authenticator app via the App Store of iOS or the Google Play store on Android

Step 6: On the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone, press “Scan a QR code”

Step 7: Scan the QR code with the Google Authenticator App on your mobile phone

Step 8: The app will generate a 6-digit code

Step 9: Enter the code on Amazon

All set!
